What kind of benefits am I entitled to as a construction worker?

As a construction worker, you may be eligible for 2 types of compensation:

  1. Mobility allowances It concerns the trips you make between your place of residence and the place of employment, if it is at least 10 kilometers. This applies to both outbound and return trips.
  2. Relocation allowances: This is about the travel you do between your residence and the social seat

1 | You are driver, and you drive with passengers

Do you use your own car? Then you are entitled to a travel allowance and a mobility allowance for the entire distance covered. If you only use your employer's car, then you are only entitled to a mobility allowance.

  • Displacement allowance: for your kilometers driven with your own car, you are entitled to a displacement allowance "Barema B". If you drive your employer's car, you will not receive a relocation allowance.
  • Mobility allowances: Per kilometer, even for those you travel alone (on a route where you take others afterwards or before), you are entitled to the reimbursement of €0.1579 per km.

Caution: For a trip longer than 2 hours, 2 employees must be paid as drivers.

2 | You are a driver of a company car, driving without passengers

If you only use your employer's car, then you are only entitled to a mobility allowance.

  • Mobility allowances: You are entitled to the allowances according to "Schedule B".

3 | You are a driver with your own car, driving without passengers

Do you use your own car? Then you are entitled to a travel allowance as well as a mobility allowance for the entire distance traveled.

  • Travel allowance: for your kilometers traveled in your own car, you are entitled to a travel allowance "scale B".
  • Mobility allowances: You are entitled to the mobility allowances according to "Schedule B".

4 | You are a passenger

As a passenger, you also have compensation for time spent on the road. You are entitled to the allowances according to "Schedule B."

5 | Train passenger or other common public transportation

Do you take the train to work? Reimbursement depends on the routes you do. Basically, you are entitled to"Schedule A."

6 | Cyclist

Do you bike to work? Then it's simple: for travel by bicycle, you get 0.24 euros per kilometer ridden. If you then travel by car, the other allowances apply.

7 | Young construction workers

Workers in a dual learning system are also entitled to the same mobility allowance as regular workers.

8 | Additional leave

Do you receive a mobility allowance for more than 30,000 kilometers per year? Then you are entitled to an extra day's leave, paid like a public holiday, starting from.

You can withdraw it until March 31 of the year after you have driven these 30,000 miles.

Digitalization of mobility and travel allowances eases administrative work

As an employer in the construction sector (Joint Committee 124), you must report monthly the mobility allowance you grant to your workers. For an accurate registration and calculation of these allowances, it is best to use an integrated digital system, so that human errors are excluded and the monthly administration is reduced to a minimum.
